Brazilian Ministry of Finance, BNDES, and the Green Climate Fund announce a plan for a climate fund
The Brazilian Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF), has announced a new Catalytic Investment Fund in blended climate finance, scheduled to launch in 2026.
With an initial indicative investment of 400 million dollars, the proposed Catalytic Capital Fund is expected to be complemented by private capital mobilization, exceeding 1 billion dollars.
The Fund aims to become a key instrument of the Brazilian Climate Investment and Ecological Transformation Platform (known as BIP), created to mobilize large-scale investments into Brazil’s green transition.
The new Fund will allow Brazil to access new avenues in climate finance, directing catalytic investments toward innovative solutions in priority sectors, helping to meet Brazil’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to reduce emissions by 59% to 67% by 2035.
