Ecuador to strengthen agricultural public services with IDB support

16 Oct 2025

Ecuador will receive a 25-year term, 40 million dollars loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in order to support the development of its agricultural public services, through the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIAP) and the Agency for Phytosanitary Regulation and Control (AGROCALIDAD).

The project will focus on the construction and adaptation of infrastructure with environmental sustainability and accessibility criteria, the implementation of advanced digital solutions based on artificial intelligence and virtual reality, and the training of technicians and producers in the transfer and adoption of new technologies.

It is estimated that the program will benefit more than 13,000 farmers, contributing to strengthening institutional governance and improving climate resilience in the agricultural sector.
