IDB Invest announces financing for Bancoagrícola to boost small businesses in El Salvador

Banco Agrícola, S.A., a private financial institution part of the Grupo Cibest with 1.6 million clients in El Salvador, has announced a 150 million dollars financing operation with the aim of expanding its lending capacity to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly for sustainable projects.

The financing scheme consists of: i) a loan of up to 40 million dollars from IDB Invest; ii) a credit of up to 10 million dollars provided by the Canadian Accelerator Fund for Net-Zero Emissions and Climate Resilience; and iii) additional financing of 100 million dollars from private sector investors.

In addition, IDB Invest will provide technical assistance to Banco Agrícola in preparing a future thematic issuance, strengthening its sustainable finance strategy, and aligning its risk management practices with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) S1 and S2 standards.
